2024 Rules of the Shop Association
Ruscombe and Whiteshill Village Community Shop
The shop opened on Saturday 24th October 1998 and remains an essential part of the village community. It is located on the edge of the Playing Field in Whiteshill in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The shop comprises a retail shop, a café and public toilet which are wheelchair and baby friendly. The shop is a community hub with regular events, a book club, a seniors’ coffee morning, informal meeting place for friends to catch up, plus lots of seasonal and occasional events. It also offers an information and advertising service.
It is completely run by volunteers who give their time and energy to ensure that the shop continues to operate for the benefit of the community.
The shop has a vast selection of items including:
Frozen food, tinned food, groceries,
Cold drinks, confectionery, free-range eggs
Crisps, milk, dairy products
Cold meat, tea, coffee
Cereals, grains, pasta
Pastries, and cakes, homemade conserves
Greeting cards, organic and eco-friendly products
Daily and weekly newspapers and magazines can be ordered for collection
The ice cream fridge is stocked with a variety of ice creams and lollies, as well as tubs of Winstones Ice Cream. The Café can be a lively and busy place – it offers a variety of hot and cold drinks to have in or take out, hot and cold snacks and delicious cakes. Our library has a large variety of books for sale.
We require volunteers to assist in the shop and Café for 2-hours shifts:
