PCSO Gary Lynch
My name’s Gary Lynch, I am your local Police Community Support Officer and have recently been allocated Whiteshill area, Stroud as one of my areas of responsibility. I have already started work on acquainting myself with the area.
If I can be of help regards Community Policing issues, concerns, Crime Prevention Survey, help and advice, please don’t hesitate to get in touch by any of the methods below. Or if you see me out on foot, please feel free to approach me.
I also encourage the Neighbourhood Watch and what I call community contacts within my neighbourhoods. this is a valued and important part of the role. this enables me through e-mail to keep my communities updated and can also include items such as – putting out requests for help with enquiries, updates on Crime Prevention advice, alert to any activities such as bringing in the Mobile Police Station to areas. Sometimes it’s just a general awareness of what my colleagues are looking to prevent / or are picking up on.
I also send out invitations through this method to informal Community Priority meetings which I run approx every 6 months. this is a useful vehicle for me to update members of my communities and it also helps to ensure that I have fullest awareness of police related issues which are either impacting upon or having an effect on my communities.
I will periodically try where I can have one to one time with both my Watch co-ordinators and Community contacts subject to what is taking place operationally / workload.
If you think you might be interested then please don’t hesitate to contact me. I may not have all the answers, but I will find someone who has or will find the right points to go to. My thanks to you for your time and support and I look forward to seeing / meeting you in the coming weeks and months

The following is just a brief awareness of just some of the activity/update on foot within my Communities /areas of responsibility-:
Late shifts from approximately 17.30hrs to midnight have been focused on being on foot in the Farmhill, Paganhill ,Cainscross Road and Dudbridge areas. This is about being seen in area, ensuring visibility as a prevention tool , getting into roads/streets that may not have had a presence for some while, targeting key parks in Dudbridge and key locations where vans have suffered in recent weeks.
Other key activity has been working with members of the Community , partner agencies Stroud District Council Colleagues and Barnwood Trust to progress and move things forward on a key piece of work I have been involved with since September 2017 within the Paganhill area. It is painstaking work, demanding diligence, patience and resilience but progress is being made.
Following on from the aforementioned, one became aware of 2 individuals seeking financial gain through inappropriate methods – in between the 2/2/18 and 6/2/18. Action has taken place as of noon 8/2/18 .If there should be any new instances since noon 8/2/18 please inform myself by email or register an incident via 101 .Please provide descriptions if applicable of the individuals, names if used, techniques used. Most importantly please do not part with any cash, please do not part with bank cards or bank details.
Whiteshill I have attended with the Neighbourhood Policing vehicle and carried out some further assessment around the School markings area, and as of today processed an action in respect of the 20mph speed limit and working in a small way to support the Parish Council and Community .
All this has been interspersed with a number of meetings to update/progress various items, attendance at Callowell School to plan further opportunities for helping with Internet Safety, looking after some of the less fortunate , and unwell within my Communities .Finally a Crime Prevention session with the Brownies .
Vans and Flatbed vehicles.
My thanks to members of the Community who have been e mailing me details or talking to me about details in respect of very slow moving vans and flatbed vehicles which have been noted driving around the area.
It appears that the occupants of some of these vehicles appear to travel very slowly, looking at homes etc.
This is perceived as out of the ordinary/unusual.
If you notice anything like this please don’t ignore it. If nothing else, please let me know the type of vehicle, its registration, time and date .Any information is useful and helpful, thank you. It all helps.
If you feel it needs Police attention of a more immediate nature then please ring the Police.
You may well have seen some recent coverage in respect of the all new Community Alert Gloucestershire system . This facility gives real time alerts and keeps you informed on what going on in your area. This is a free messaging system and is designed to keep residents and businesses up to date what’s happening in your area.

This will be within my Communities of Whiteshill, Farmhill, Paganhill, Cainscross Road and Dudbridge areas. Or I can arrange to make an appointment here at Stroud Station for you to fill short form in, it only takes a few minutes . To those who have already signed up to the service I thank you.

So to reassure you whilst the weather has not been kind., I accept its dark out there but your local Officer is still out on foot in his Communities.
